One of the most important events which attracts tourists spending their summer holidays at hotels in Cattolica is “Windsurf Day”, which is organized by the Nautical Club every year in August and gathers large numbers of surfers from all over Italy and abroad. During the competition, thousands of sails turn a large stretch of sea into a fascinating patchwork of colours and shapes and spectators have the possibility to admire outstanding acrobatics performed by skilled windsurfing champions. In the evening, local inhabitants flock to the harbour to celebrate their champions, attend prize-giving ceremonies and meet their friends while drinking and dancing till late at night.
In winter, when the sporting season comes to an end, sailing schools, sports associations and Cattolica's Nautical Club organize plenty of absorbing activities, such as theme meetings, rallies and related events, which give participants the possibility to foment their passion while waiting for summer and the possibility to compete again across the waves of the Adriatic Sea.
