Teatro della Regina
Exhibition Memoria della Marineria
Cattolica's Teatro della Regina (Theatre of the Queen), designed by Pier Luigi Cervellati in 1984 as a traditional horseshoe-shaped Italian theatre, features two rows of boxes and a wide gallery which can host up to 700 people, as well as a large Foyer which is often the venue for conferences and congresses. This elegant, multipurpose facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and boasts a perfect acoustics, thus standing out as the ideal facility to host different kinds of representations and important music shows.
Inaugurated in 1996 with a concert held by soprano Katia Ricciarelli, Teatro della Regina quickly turned into an important cultural point of reference for the region, and soon began staging great events and attracting large numbers of theatre enthusiasts. Every week, from October to April, theatrical representations, ballets, operettas, comedies, plays in dialect, operas and concerts performed by famous national and international artists attract large numbers of enthusiast attendees.
In summer, representations are held in the beautiful open-air amphitheatre situated in the nearby Piazza della Repubblica. Both Arena della Regina (Arena of the Queen) and Teatro della Regina are part of the new Multipurpose Cultural Centre, whose open-air stage welcomes opera musicians, rock and jazz groups and popular singers all summer long.
