Misano World Circuit, the international circuit of Santa Monica which is situated few kilometres far from Cattolica, hosts internationally renowned motorcycling championships, absorbing shows and events and plenty of further challening sports competitions. Since 2007, the circuit has hosted one of the most important stages of the Motorcycle World Championship, the Grand Prix of San Marino and Rimini's Riviera, and of the Superbike World Championship, thus achieving utmost popularity and turning into one of the main attractions of the Riviera.
The first circuit of Emilia-Romagna was commissioned by Enzo Ferrari in the late ’60s, and since then it has become a traditional gathering place for plenty of champions from Romagna who started their career competing in national championships.
Over the last few years, the circuit has undergone extensive renovation, it has been enlarged (it is now 4,180 metre-large) and direction has been changed (from anti-clockwise to clockwise). It was provided with four entrance gates and stands were enlarged to host up to 18,500 people. Not to be missed are the technological improvements of the press room and the implementation of state-of-the-art services and facilities.
Apart from the Grand Prix of San Marino and Rimini's Riviera, which takes place at the beginning of September and attracts more than 80,000 people, other major events which are held at Misano's circuit are the exciting Superbike competitions, Sara Racing Weekend, the Driver’s Trophy ETCS Cup (Endurance Touring Cars Serie) night competition, the Motorcycling Italian Championship, Yamaha Cup, "Porsche Targa Tricolore" and plenty of further events and promotional campaigns which are able to attract large numbers of both beginners and enthusiasts. Even trucks, the so-called “giants of the road” gather in Santamonica on the occasion of the renowned Truck Racing Championship!
Those looking for thrilling emotions will have the opportunity to attend free trials and special courses of safe driving.
